Establish an Effective Skin Care routine

Healthy habits and a comprehensive skin care routine will help you see the skin you’ve always wanted.

So I came across this on Pinterest  and there are a few things I think I’m going to have to change for my version when I write it up. (Which I may do in my 2018 BUJO. Some I will use others I don’t really need to follow liek the make-up brushes, I don’t use make up often let alone aside from some chapstick or gloss I don’t use it in the summer (rarely, I will put a smudge of eyeshadow)

Exfoliate I would say is best every other day and if you have sensitive skin 2x a week. Although if you are a tanning buff like me (i do use 100SPF but I tan fast as well!) I would exfoliate everyday (or night before) especially your legs BEFORE you shave with a pumice stone or preferably a Loofa  (and no its not the shower Poofs…  They make them for your face too!)

go in the sun and use some baby oil while you still have water dripping on you. You nor a boyfriend or Husband will be able to keep yourself from ‘petting’ your silky legs. And it won’t burn you that way you still get the tanning effect from the baby oil but you will have your sun block over it so you won’t get burned.

weekly Exercise? Thought that was supposed to mostly be a daily thing!!?!?! Though I really hear every other day

I’ve read once a month is fine for cleaning your make up brushes, but then I guess that depends on all the different colors etc you use.

‘grooming eyebrows’ should be bi weekly not monthly especially if this ‘grooming’ means waxing or tweezing. Don’t forget if you get your eyebrows professionally waxed, that you can go a month without having to go back if you maintain it. After a week or even a few days check to see if any hairs have emerged and tweeze those buggers out! This way you stay polished looking and don’t have to pay whatever it is every other week. (or even cheaper, DIY! My Wax cost me no more than $10 and it takes a lot less time than even if you have an appointment you sometimes have to wait… then go through it… it takes me no longer than 5 minutes to do my own.

You should condition your hair weekly and month should be a deep condition or hot oil treatment (especially if you have split ends) If you use product in your hair, blow dry it even in summer, or or is just naturally dry and strawlike… you will want to use conditioner every other wash, and once a week use a deep moisturizing conditioner. (and may I suggest a leave-in conditioner.)  also if you have naturally dry hair.. instead of every day (which is what is drying it out… try every other to day or more… say you last washed your hair on Sunday.. wash it on Tuesday night or wait til Wednesday. This way the natural oils can seep into the hair to smooth the follicle as well as you won’t get split ends much. And if During the summer use a little conditioner and sunblock mixed to smooth on the ends of your hair and your scalp. (this way your head won’t get burned nor your hair fried!

20 Great Habits For Stronger, Shinier And Healthier Hair

This post was inspired by 20 Great Habits For Stronger, Shinier And Healthier Hair

Now we all have our own beauty routines but sometimes we just need to break thins up and try something new, or use it every so often. Sometimes your body can get used to something and it doesn’t work anymore.

I wash my hair (depending on time of year) anywhere between every 2 days, during the winter or if I don’t plan to go out I only wash it once a week!  (basically when it looks a bit greasy that’s when to wash it, otherwise you dry out your hair, the shampoo strips the natural oils from your scalp that help in healthy hair, not to mention get split ends faster.

I also take Biotin it helps with healthy skin, growing hair and nails.

I use this  Olive Oil ‘lotion’ for hair to keep my long mane tame especially for the ends so they don’t split. it keeps frizz away for me as well in the winter static.

One or twice a week I condition it, but during the summer I do so a little more.

Once a month use a hot oil treatment (or a conditioner you leave in for awhile) During the winter this should be done once a week.

Also in the summer I suggest using some sunscreen specially made for your scalp

also even if you are trying to grow your hair out… see a stylist every 3-6 months to trim those dead ends off.

Plus your hair always looks super shiny and healthy when you leave

Michel Mercier Hair Brush

I saw this brush on tv, and being as my hair is the longest it’s been since I was a child (when I sit down, if I’m not careful I sit on it and my head snaps back!)

Michel Mercier ultimate-detangling-brush-productI thought maybe if I used the brush it would work better than the ones I already have. Mind you I recently did receive a brush around the holidays from Influenster to review. That was a finishing brush after you’ve already detangled etc. These are for right away, but never brush your hair right away when it’s wet. The shaft is weak and more breakage happens.

The instructions are reverse what we were taught as children though I see the logic!

Use starting from the tip (bottom) of the hair and work 13way to the scalp. This is sort of hard to wrap your hair and especially your hand around as I caught myself brushing from scalp to tip. But it does get the tangles out and doing as instructed it doesn’t hurt (however for those big tangles… hold on above the knot) So with this, there is no need for detangling spray! I no longer brush with any brush from scalp to bottom.

I am trying to figure out the difference between the 3 brushes, when I stood before the display the bristles all looked the same, as well the same amount of them. I didn’t see any difference in the thickness or length for the bristles. Though from this picture it could just be the color, but the blue looks like they may be closer together but I’m not sure.

My  one (?) complaint is possibly only due to the winter weather and it being plastic, MAJOR static. You might want to have a dryer sheet, water and/or some sort of hair spray at hand. (It might be a good idea when not using the brush to keep a dryer sheet on it, poke the bristles if possible through the sheet) The static may also depend on your hair (is it dry or oily etc) as well as the atmosphere (air) in the home.

Another one or 2 improvements that could be made…. I would like a longer (maybe even wood)  handle and maybe another 2 inches long with grips.

Also be warned if your cat likes to be brushed, she may show up when you are brushing your hair! Mine certainly does so I end up having to brush mine, a few times then her.

I think I may see a little bit if a difference but not quite sure with what.

Day 2

Friday 16

Definitely see a difference. Even went to ask mom if she saw any difference and said yes.

My skin I think you can say looks brighter, smoother, healthier even.

Day 3

Sat 17

So I dozed off before getting to put the moisturizer on, so I applied it an extra time today to make up for it.

Day 4

Sun 18

so I was trying to get an update photo, but I wasn’t able to mimic the previous photo. Though maybe this other one is closer. (I even threw on the same shirt)

Its been humid and muggy here so I’m not sure if that would have anything to do with how I would look in the Images. I can tell you during the summer my cheeks and especially my chin are usually oily. My forehead is usually the only thing normal to dry about my skin. So I’ve been putting a bit more of the cream there than the rest of my face. I wash my face, dab it dry then let it air dry and then put the cream on.

Happy memorial Day ~ Sunblock season!!!

I want to take a moment to wish you a Happy Memorial day weekend. I hope you get to chill & Grill.

And as a daughter, Niece, and granddaughter of veterans and have many cousins in the military

a moment to Thank and  remember those who served

I wanted to take this moment to help you out with some fun in the sun care.

Man my nose looks big there.

Many think that you just put sunblock on once or twice and you’re good for the day, WRONG!

I may not burn out of the water but no matter what I put sunblock on throughout the day.  While I have Neutral to

Olive tone skin, on the beach I put on at least a 30 or more block EVERY hour (one reason I likely do not burn). Now if I go in the water (which seems to be the only time I do burn) I put more on even if I applied just 5-10 minutes ago, even if I use the sport sunblock which is supposed to be waterproof. Those of you with fair skin, you need to apply at least every half hour and use the maximum SPF you can find.

Another thing is, no matter what skin you have… you need to find the BROAD SPECTRUM  (which protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Think of it this way…UVB is what makes you burn, UVA is what ages your skin.

Also don’t use the stuff from a dollar store, Yeah it’s a great idea to pick up an extra in case you run out but I’d rather get another one of a trusted brand like Neutrogena, No-ad (a no frills brand), Banana Boat, or something from Hawaiian Tropic.

You don’t know what its made with, how  old or effective it will be and I re-blogged this by someone last year about what happened to someone who used the dollar store brand.

I’ve herd all the beauty magazines, dermatologists etc say You are not supposed to use last summer’s sun block, and to buy a new tube  really every 6 months. (If you only use it during the summer, then you are not supposed to use it the next summer as it may be ineffective in it’s job.)

For me, it depends on where I have it stored. As long as it’s away from the heaters, and not in the bathroom  but in a cool dry play you may get a few more months out of it, like if you bought it at the end of the season. Also I keep my block in my purse as there are days you can just feel when the UV index is maxed.

Natural Loofah Exfoliating Bath Sponge by Spa Destinations™ (3 PACK of 4" Loofah) "Creating The In Home Spa Experience"™ 100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee! Great Value! My Sun care starts before I go in the sun, well before even going to the pool or beach or in what should be this summer’s case.. on the boat!

I not only use a loofa which many seem to think those stupid mesh shower puffs are a loofa! They are no where in the same category. A loofa is a natural  sea sponge which exfoliates skin (so you get a more even tan)  wash in a circular counter clock-wise  motion until your skin gets a pinkish tint (almost as if you got light sun burn color.) That way you know the dead skin is off, and you will get an even tan.

I highly suggest using a loofa before you shave! It will get those hairs you can see just below the skin, but are not quite out yet. When I don’t use a loofa or pumice stone before I shave being I have dark hair it looks like I didn’t even shave!

In the 90s after I would shave I’d  rub baby oil all over my legs, before drying off, then I’d rinse some of it off. They would be so soft, one of my guy friends couldn’t keep his hands off my legs. Heck when I do it now (I use the baby oil with Aloe in it)  I love how soft my legs are!

Before getting out of the shower I rub some baby oil in everywhere while I still have some water on me to lock in the moisture. usually I try to make it enough (yet little) that i don’t need to rinse off. Say a quater size amount for each arm, leg and torso. If you want to use on your face just use what remains on your hands as well as rub into the backs of your hands!

Here’s another option which looks like a face cloth & here are round facial ones
