The Best Homemade Remedy for Sunburn, According to a Dermatologist

Oh My.. I just realized I didn’t publish any posts last month. Please do forgive me, as I wasn’t quite with it. my cat passed on and I’m still having up and down moods on top of my anxiety and depression. Anyway a little better now So I’ll see if I can get maybe 2 out this month

Always remember (and I can’t stress this enough) use no lower than a 30 SPF if you are only running errands. But if You will be out in the sun all day you need at least a 50 if not higher SPF with UVA/UVB protection. (the ‘a’ are the rays that make you age and the ‘b” is for the ones that make you burn.) If you are fairs skinned then you will need to put it on around every half hour, more often if you are actually at the beach or in water. Those with Olive skin and darker need only put it on once an hour. And Put more on when you are about to go in the water. (remember water is reflective. Frankly that’s the only time I do burn!)

However the best of us that safely sun still sometimes get a burn here or there (like I said I usually get one when I go IN the water at the beach.

The Best Homemade Remedy for Sunburn, According to a Dermatologist

to Zi’s Beauty Balm facebook page.

For as long as I’ve lived I can remember we always kept Noxema moisturizing cleanser in the refrigerator and when we got a burn We’d put it on as soon we got out of a nice cool shower.

Along with that we used to use those aloe gels, but a lot of them are just sticky feeling so I wouldn’t recommend those unless its a last resort.(and mixed with some of your favorite moisturizer)

Since I have an Aloe plant (and love when its gets big as I harvest it and just put the gel and water from it in a pot, with some lemon to preserve it and leave it in the back of the top shelf of the fridge. (It will keep for at least 6 months if yours is as cold as ours. Some things freeze sometimes on the top shelf.

P.S. Lemon is suppose to help reduce sun spots. (especially when you use it BEFORE you get them. Lemon is a natural bleach, when used on your hair to! Hint Hint

20 things to do when you are Bored

Its the end of January and some of you may have cabin fever, just think how you will feel by February or March. In this day and age I don’t get how ANYONE with all the crap we have to ‘toy’ around with and so on, how can one get bored?

There are endless Apps, LOADs of great shows on television now (I Highly suggest watching Lethal Weapon.. its my stand out favorite new show last year.) Plus there’s streaming as well, and all the stuff from the past on youtube.

a few suggestions?

*Watch Lethal Weapon, Game of Thrones or Vikings

*Write a short story or a poem on how you feel

*as much as I hate to…. exercise a bit. (do one of each)

*I have a giant pile of books and only 2 small bookcases, organize your books by alphabetical order (the ones you plan to keep) or make each shelf a different genre, I’ve also seen where people put all books of one color together and look quite pretty especially if you do it as an accent wall)

*READ a print or digital book

*Get a hobby for instance ( I make jewelry and sew among other things like paint…not like I’m good at drawing in the first place but I just freehand the whole thing. I have a few blogs (this, one for writing, Crafts, and my Entertainment one which is the one that keeps me the busiest.and there’s my main one which aside I post random stuff that doesn’t fit to the others, (and I do repost some of the articles and reviews from my other blogs there.

*Play a board or card game with family or friends.

*Is it the spring or summer? Is it a Saturday? Go check out some Yard or whatever you want to call them sales, or even a flea market (why are they called that anyway?) All the ones I’ve been to have sold new stuff Like the Big one in Englishtown new jersey and Stormville.

*You know those adult coloring books? Buy one and some colored pencils (they look best that way to me, though if you get one where the pages have the art on one side, then why not try watercolor as well?)

*Decide what you will wear the next few days

*make a list, any list

*Go through your closet, and see what no longer fits.

*write a short story

Best Beauty Gifts

Sorry for the lack of posts, my computer died, I think it was mid October and I think I already had one post scheduled to automatically publish. Now I have a laptop so I hope once I get caught up on everything, I can hopefully keep up and get more posts written, edited and so on. Being we will all be busy I am not planning on posting anything unless I already have it scheduled. However I am planning during that time to work on and start the schedule for the new year. Til then, Happy Holidays and New year in case you don’t hear from me before!

Being as it is time many start their holiday shopping I thought I’d put together a quick gift giving guide. Sadly my favorite thing on here is no longer available.

Halloween tricks and Treats

I’ve curated a few things that caught my attention. There’s a sweet treat, some beauty and make-up products as well as a a type of candle. I’ve also included a link to My Halloween Make-up FX page for any of you that have parties, or even kids going to them and trick or treating.

Also I have many other Halloween pages on hubpages as well as the main version on my blog ZodiacImmortal.wordpress.com They should all be in the Menu. And yes some are similar, as I started them on Squidoo or hubpages and they were too long so instead I backed it up on my log and elaborated on it there. That way I can include everything I want without the limitations of hubpages. There’s also the 13 days of Halloween series I did a few years back on that site as well.

I saw this cute black cat cake, and wanted to try it. sadly they make it with butterfingers, which I don’t like so I think I’m going to try some other type of candy bar(s) on it. Maybe PB twix, or watchamacalits

Try This Halloween Cake That’s As Sweet As It Is Cute

I can understand spending $10-$20 on a candle, depending on the size, and how long it lasts (as well as type of wax etc) but these are way too much. (though there is one for $10 another for around $20) No Hocus Pocus About It — These “Black Flame” Candles Will Put a Spell on You but I doubt they have a b lack flame! (sorry they’d need to do some sort of chemicals on the wick I think for that. Just like some butane lighter fluid might be a green color or red. )

The Classic 1993 movie seems to have it’s own line. I came across a blog post Hocus Pocus movie inspired beauty Collection and had to check it out. The 3 products Body Cream, Shower Frosting and Whipped body scrub under ‘Its just a bunch of HOCUS POCUS and the Sanderson sistas lines. Also the least they could have done was use some witchy looking potion bottles and jars. Not that boring looking container. At least something that looked like a couldron, or a whatever container with a witches hat for the top.

Love this and Love the Elvira palate even more!

Use This Ouija Face Powder To Set Your Makeup & Summon The Dead

oh and the ONLY way you open yourself using a ouija board, is if you don’t know how to use it properly, have negative feelings and do not cleans it and yourself before and after use. DO NOT use in YOUR house or a graveyard Not to mention a few other things. Basically if you are NOT a witch,Shaman, mystic etc keep away. It’s not a game.

halloween-make-up-effects

again I have many Halloween topics on my Blog ZodiacImmortal.wordpress.com.

For instance, I have the full The #13 Frights of halloween series of posts, as well as a separate 13 Frights of Halloween page, my award winning Dracula Day, The Vampire Bible, a Make-up and FX page (yes like from Hubpages, but this one should have some different videos as well as items I recommend. There’s plenty more While on hubpages I have certain movie hubs, and then on my Entertainment blog I have the signature series Classic Cuts of Nightmare on Elm street, and Ghostbusters. I’m working on others as well but some of those upcoming you can find in my hubpages like an early version Nightmare on Elm street, FInal Destination and others.

Keep in mind the pages on my blog are the main version (and just have the hubpage version as a back up) So all the items in the blog menu are updated as often as possible (I do also go through the #13 Frights of Halloween posts but are not updated as often.)

Establish an Effective Skin Care routine

Healthy habits and a comprehensive skin care routine will help you see the skin you’ve always wanted.

click to go to site

So I came across this on Pinterest and there are a few things I think I’m going to have to change for my version when I write it up. (Which I may do in my 2018 BUJO. Some I will use others I don’t really need to follow liek the make-up brushes, I don’t use make up often let alone aside from some chapstick or gloss I don’t use it in the summer (rarely, I will put a smudge of eyeshadow)

Exfoliate I would say is best every other day and if you have sensitive skin 2x a week. Although if you are a tanning buff like me (i do use 100SPF but I tan fast as well!) I would exfoliate everyday (or night before) especially your legs BEFORE you shave with a pumice stone or preferably a Loofa (and no its not the shower Poofs… They make them for your face too!)

go in the sun and use some baby oil while you still have water dripping on you. You nor a boyfriend or Husband will be able to keep yourself from ‘petting’ your silky legs. And it won’t burn you that way you still get the tanning effect from the baby oil but you will have your sun block over it so you won’t get burned.

weekly Exercise? Thought that was supposed to mostly be a daily thing!!?!?! Though I really hear every other day

I’ve read once a month is fine for cleaning your make up brushes, but then I guess that depends on all the different colors etc you use.

‘grooming eyebrows’ should be bi weekly not monthly especially if this ‘grooming’ means waxing or tweezing. Don’t forget if you get your eyebrows professionally waxed, that you can go a month without having to go back if you maintain it. After a week or even a few days check to see if any hairs have emerged and tweeze those buggers out! This way you stay polished looking and don’t have to pay whatever it is every other week. (or even cheaper, DIY! My Wax cost me no more than $10 and it takes a lot less time than even if you have an appointment you sometimes have to wait… then go through it… it takes me no longer than 5 minutes to do my own.

You should condition your hair weekly and month should be a deep condition or hot oil treatment (especially if you have split ends) If you use product in your hair, blow dry it even in summer, or or is just naturally dry and strawlike… you will want to use conditioner every other wash, and once a week use a deep moisturizing conditioner. (and may I suggest a leave-in conditioner.) also if you have naturally dry hair.. instead of every day (which is what is drying it out… try every other to day or more… say you last washed your hair on Sunday.. wash it on Tuesday night or wait til Wednesday. This way the natural oils can seep into the hair to smooth the follicle as well as you won’t get split ends much. And if During the summer use a little conditioner and sunblock mixed to smooth on the ends of your hair and your scalp. (this way your head won’t get burned nor your hair fried!

Happy memorial Day ~ Sunblock season!!!

I want to take a moment to wish you a Happy Memorial day weekend. I hope you get to chill & Grill.

Image result for memorial day gifsImage result for memorial day gifs soldiers

And as a daughter, Niece, and granddaughter of veterans and have many cousins in the military

a moment to Thank and remember those who served

I wanted to take this moment to help you out with some fun in the sun care.

Man my nose looks big there.

Many think that you just put sunblock on once or twice and you’re good for the day, WRONG!

I may not burn out of the water but no matter what I put sunblock on throughout the day. While I have Neutral to

Olive tone skin, on the beach I put on at least a 30 or more block EVERY hour (one reason I likely do not burn). Now if I go in the water (which seems to be the only time I do burn) I put more on even if I applied just 5-10 minutes ago, even if I use the sport sunblock which is supposed to be waterproof. Those of you with fair skin, you need to apply at least every half hour and use the maximum SPF you can find.

Another thing is, no matter what skin you have… you need to find the BROAD SPECTRUM (which protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Think of it this way…UVB is what makes you burn, UVA is what ages your skin.

Also don’t use the stuff from a dollar store, Yeah it’s a great idea to pick up an extra in case you run out but I’d rather get another one of a trusted brand like Neutrogena, No-ad (a no frills brand), Banana Boat, or something from Hawaiian Tropic.

You don’t know what its made with, how old or effective it will be and I re-blogged this by someone last year about what happened to someone who used the dollar store brand.

I’ve herd all the beauty magazines, dermatologists etc say You are not supposed to use last summer’s sun block, and to buy a new tube really every 6 months. (If you only use it during the summer, then you are not supposed to use it the next summer as it may be ineffective in it’s job.)

For me, it depends on where I have it stored. As long as it’s away from the heaters, and not in the bathroom but in a cool dry play you may get a few more months out of it, like if you bought it at the end of the season. Also I keep my block in my purse as there are days you can just feel when the UV index is maxed.

Natural Loofah Exfoliating Bath Sponge by Spa Destinations™ (3 PACK of 4" Loofah) "Creating The In Home Spa Experience"™ 100% Money Back Satisfaction Guarantee! Great Value! My Sun care starts before I go in the sun, well before even going to the pool or beach or in what should be this summer’s case.. on the boat!

I not only use a loofa which many seem to think those stupid mesh shower puffs are a loofa! They are no where in the same category. A loofa is a natural sea sponge which exfoliates skin (so you get a more even tan) wash in a circular counter clock-wise motion until your skin gets a pinkish tint (almost as if you got light sun burn color.) That way you know the dead skin is off, and you will get an even tan.

I highly suggest using a loofa before you shave! It will get those hairs you can see just below the skin, but are not quite out yet. When I don’t use a loofa or pumice stone before I shave being I have dark hair it looks like I didn’t even shave!

In the 90s after I would shave I’d rub baby oil all over my legs, before drying off, then I’d rinse some of it off. They would be so soft, one of my guy friends couldn’t keep his hands off my legs. Heck when I do it now (I use the baby oil with Aloe in it) I love how soft my legs are!

Before getting out of the shower I rub some baby oil in everywhere while I still have some water on me to lock in the moisture. usually I try to make it enough (yet little) that i don’t need to rinse off. Say a quater size amount for each arm, leg and torso. If you want to use on your face just use what remains on your hands as well as rub into the backs of your hands!

Here’s another option which looks like a face cloth & here are round facial ones
