Its the end of January and some of you may have cabin fever, just think how you will feel by February or March. In this day and age I don’t get how ANYONE with all the crap we have to ‘toy’ around with and so on, how can one get bored?
There are endless Apps, LOADs of great shows on television now (I Highly suggest watching Lethal Weapon.. its my stand out favorite new show last year.) Plus there’s streaming as well, and all the stuff from the past on youtube.
a few suggestions?
*Watch Lethal Weapon, Game of Thrones or Vikings
*Write a short story or a poem on how you feel
*as much as I hate to…. exercise a bit. (do one of each)
*I have a giant pile of books and only 2 small bookcases, organize your books by alphabetical order (the ones you plan to keep) or make each shelf a different genre, I’ve also seen where people put all books of one color together and look quite pretty especially if you do it as an accent wall)
*READ a print or digital book
*Get a hobby for instance ( I make jewelry and sew among other things like paint…not like I’m good at drawing in the first place but I just freehand the whole thing. I have a few blogs (this, one for writing, Crafts, and my Entertainment one which is the one that keeps me the busiest.and there’s my main one which aside I post random stuff that doesn’t fit to the others, (and I do repost some of the articles and reviews from my other blogs there.
*Play a board or card game with family or friends.
*Is it the spring or summer? Is it a Saturday? Go check out some Yard or whatever you want to call them sales, or even a flea market (why are they called that anyway?) All the ones I’ve been to have sold new stuff Like the Big one in Englishtown new jersey and Stormville.
*You know those adult coloring books? Buy one and some colored pencils (they look best that way to me, though if you get one where the pages have the art on one side, then why not try watercolor as well?)
*Decide what you will wear the next few days
*make a list, any list
*Go through your closet, and see what no longer fits.
*write a short story
Sorry for the lack of posts, my computer died, I think it was mid October and I think I already had one post scheduled to automatically publish. Now I have a laptop so I hope once I get caught up on everything, I can hopefully keep up and get more posts written, edited and so on. Being we will all be busy I am not planning on posting anything unless I already have it scheduled. However I am planning during that time to work on and start the schedule for the new year. Til then, Happy Holidays and New year in case you don’t hear from me before!
Being as it is time many start their holiday shopping I thought I’d put together a quick gift giving guide. Sadly my favorite thing on here is no longer available.
I can also recommend
or going to one of their many store location. They have MANY body products for men and women and most of all …
most if not all products are vegan
I need one of these!
Wonder how we can make one of these …definitely a repost for the craft blog
As much as I hate taking selfies, but have to take one for a before picture..so here it is.
I find it funny they sent a card along suggesting HOW to take the picture, however I took mine before even reading the card…
First off I don’t normally wear make-up in the first place (have to be in the mood) , It’s the summer so even if I did wear make-up I never did in the summer other than some gloss. Hopefully I can get that same lighting which I took in the bathroom as it seemed to have the brightest natural light all I had to do was face the window.
They also tell you on the other side of the card or a separate one… That you should stop using other skin care products, not be testing another as well as not to go out and tan for the 2 weeks (14 days) you’ll be testing and reviewing the product. Well I have already been tanning and sadly not naturally but with that Jergen’s stuff but that’s only my body, NOT my face. So you can take that as my signature that I agree I will and have not done anything it asked not to while testing the product. I will try to remember to post an image of the card as well.
Now that is all cleared up… I know what you may be thinking…She doesn’t have wrinkles or she looks too young to have wrinkles,…right? First off keep in mind… I used to use only Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil (which I think has only a 4 SPF if even that) or I just used baby oil. This is back before we all knew better, so I know I have damage. The one thing I can see (or maybe it’s just me is) you see how below my eyes are…I’m hoping the moisturizer will help fix that a bit… plus maybe tone up my skin a bit. Also I hope where any wrinkles may be that I haven’t really noticed (like possible crows feet near my eyes) will hopefully go away or just never show up!
(wed June 14)
So here’s a picture of the box and the 1 oz tub I got to test to review. I have yet to see what it’s worth in the store but I’ll wait til the challenge is done.
I washed my face with my facial loofa and I wash depending on in shower or at sink with either Clean & Clear or what I have left of my Garnier Nutri-pure cleanser. Now I don’t know if it was using the loofa or the cleanser or the 2 together but my face felt tingly (a good tingly) when I put the moisturizer on. I’m going to take it as that meant it was working.
Day 1/ night 2
I think I may see a little bit if a difference but not quite sure with what.
Definitely see a difference. Even went to ask mom if she saw any difference and said yes.
My skin I think you can say looks brighter, smoother, healthier even.
So I dozed off before getting to put the moisturizer on, so I applied it an extra time today to make up for it.
so I was trying to get an update photo, but I wasn’t able to mimic the previous photo. Though maybe this other one is closer. (I even threw on the same shirt)
Its been humid and muggy here so I’m not sure if that would have anything to do with how I would look in the Images. I can tell you during the summer my cheeks and especially my chin are usually oily. My forehead is usually the only thing normal to dry about my skin. So I’ve been putting a bit more of the cream there than the rest of my face. I wash my face, dab it dry then let it air dry and then put the cream on.
Now I’ve lost track of what day this is, and checking email today is the last day!!
I don’t know if there’s any difference, mom said it looked smoother. Also while using it (as they said we couldn’t use any other face products I didn’t use my spot treatment so I got a zit. Not sure but I think it clogs pores a bit.
improvements I think should be
-make the product depending on skin tone/problems.
Mine is normal to oily (especially during the summer) the only spot that would really need moisturizer everyday year round is my forehead.
-Also while I don’t break out often I do have certain times that I do, so if there’s a way add an acne medication to it
-as I said I think it stopped up my pores (tho I could be wrong) even if not
MAKE IT non·com·e·do·gen·ic
denoting a skin-care product or cosmetic that is specially formulated so as not to cause blocked pores.
I don’t know….does it look like there’s any difference? I guess between the first 2 you can say my skin does look smoother but sadly that last one it looks like I still have the dark baggage under my eyes.
I’m mixed as I’m not sure if I see a change but mom said my face looks smoother. Its a fairly thick but very creamy moisturizer/anti-wrinkle if you have oily skin.. wait til the fall and winter months to use it.
So as I said I’d wait til today to see if I can find a price, haven’t had the chance to find it in a store nearby but then I hate going to the store! So I figured it was over $10 thinking maybe between $15 and $20 so I looked it up on Walmart.com see the prices for yourself
Before, Day 4, last day
Gee I got that blank stare down don’t ‘eye!
I have received the product complimentary to test and review
I want to take a moment to wish you a Happy Memorial day weekend. I hope you get to chill & Grill.
And as a daughter, Niece, and granddaughter of veterans and have many cousins in the military
a moment to Thank and remember those who served
I wanted to take this moment to help you out with some fun in the sun care.
Many think that you just put sunblock on once or twice and you’re good for the day, WRONG!
I may not burn out of the water but no matter what I put sunblock on throughout the day. While I have Neutral to
Olive tone skin, on the beach I put on at least a 30 or more block EVERY hour (one reason I likely do not burn). Now if I go in the water (which seems to be the only time I do burn) I put more on even if I applied just 5-10 minutes ago, even if I use the sport sunblock which is supposed to be waterproof. Those of you with fair skin, you need to apply at least every half hour and use the maximum SPF you can find.
Another thing is, no matter what skin you have… you need to find the BROAD SPECTRUM (which protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Think of it this way…UVB is what makes you burn, UVA is what ages your skin.
Also don’t use the stuff from a dollar store, Yeah it’s a great idea to pick up an extra in case you run out but I’d rather get another one of a trusted brand like Neutrogena, No-ad (a no frills brand), Banana Boat, or something from Hawaiian Tropic.
You don’t know what its made with, how old or effective it will be and I re-blogged this by someone last year about what happened to someone who used the dollar store brand.
I’ve herd all the beauty magazines, dermatologists etc say You are not supposed to use last summer’s sun block, and to buy a new tube really every 6 months. (If you only use it during the summer, then you are not supposed to use it the next summer as it may be ineffective in it’s job.)
For me, it depends on where I have it stored. As long as it’s away from the heaters, and not in the bathroom but in a cool dry play you may get a few more months out of it, like if you bought it at the end of the season. Also I keep my block in my purse as there are days you can just feel when the UV index is maxed.
My Sun care starts before I go in the sun, well before even going to the pool or beach or in what should be this summer’s case.. on the boat!
I not only use a loofa which many seem to think those stupid mesh shower puffs are a loofa! They are no where in the same category. A loofa is a natural sea sponge which exfoliates skin (so you get a more even tan) wash in a circular counter clock-wise motion until your skin gets a pinkish tint (almost as if you got light sun burn color.) That way you know the dead skin is off, and you will get an even tan.
I highly suggest using a loofa before you shave! It will get those hairs you can see just below the skin, but are not quite out yet. When I don’t use a loofa or pumice stone before I shave being I have dark hair it looks like I didn’t even shave!
In the 90s after I would shave I’d rub baby oil all over my legs, before drying off, then I’d rinse some of it off. They would be so soft, one of my guy friends couldn’t keep his hands off my legs. Heck when I do it now (I use the baby oil with Aloe in it) I love how soft my legs are!
Before getting out of the shower I rub some baby oil in everywhere while I still have some water on me to lock in the moisture. usually I try to make it enough (yet little) that i don’t need to rinse off. Say a quater size amount for each arm, leg and torso. If you want to use on your face just use what remains on your hands as well as rub into the backs of your hands!
My favorite POST sun beauty tip…. (I’ve done all my life)
Leave a bottle or tub of Noxema moisturizing cream in the fridge
(or if you can find it Lander original Skin Cream the label must say Cool refreshing removes oil)
We put this on us if we get a burn (after our showers) it keeps peeling to a minimum if there’s any at all.
To Prevent Sunburn
add to tub (but you should STILL use sublock)
1 TSP applecider vinegar
1 cup water
Yogurt with live cultures and NO fruit
aloe vera and Vitamin E
Smash apricot or
thin slices of cucumber will help rehydrate
Already Peeling skin?
use Witch hazel
Keep Mosquitoes Away
FRESH thyme or Basil
unscented body lotion
Honey + Ice
Baking soda + Water
I came across this Ultimate Guide to Sunscreen among my newsletters but most are expensive for the amount you get.
Here are my recommendations that EVERYONE can afford, why spend so much on sunscreen when some of us are
lucky if we get to the beach or somewhere we need it once?! (even though we all should use it before we leave the house and on the way home from work.
Here’s MY ULTIMATE guide to sunblock
